Get Mum's gift giving right.
Our small Mother's Day survey has provided some useful
insights into what Mum's want as gifts -and with over half of you
saying your Mum was not very easy or even very hard to buy for, we
can provide some useful tips on getting your present buying
right.
What you give - and what Mums say you
give…
We asked all those answering the survey what they did for their
Mum on Mother's Day. And we asked all those who were Mums what they
actually got.
While just under 10% of children/partners confessed to doing
nothing for Mum on Mother's Day, almost twice as many Mums said
their children or partners neglected them completely . And
while half of those replying said they gave a gift, less than a
third of Mums actually reported recieving one.
However, two thirds of people replying and two thirds of Mums
said they sent or received cards.
You told us that the average Mum got £26 spent on her on
Mother's Day.
What Mums want
We asked Mums how they rated specific gifts. We scored the
results and found aromatherapy/ massage to be the most popular gift
choice with flexible gift vouchers for their choice of
activities/therapies/classes/crafts & services coming a close
second.
The least popular gifts were ironing/cleaning/handymen vouchers
and thrill/experience vouchers. And flowers and chocs don't
score that highly either.
And our conclusion?
A beautifully wrapped £25 giftedpeople voucher will please
almost every Mum by giving her choice of activities or a massage
whilst doubling as a card. And it's open for a whole 9 months
so if she is amongst the 4% of Mum's that wants a thrill, she's got
plenty of time to wait for the good weather to come.
