Indoor climbing lessons

At Rock Rats and Climbatise will teach young people from 7 – 12 and 13 – 17 all the basics of indoor climbing.

They will learn about the equipment used in indoor climbing, how to belay (hold the rope for your climber), tie the basic knots, basic rope technique and, obviously, how to climb.

Our sessions are total fun, safely organised and a great way to make new friends and build confidence.

The courses run several times a week. All you need to do is turn up in loose fitting comfortable clothes, with long hair tied back and no jewellery on hands or wrists.

Transport

By Bus: The Glasgow Climbing Centre is on the major bus route between Paisley and Glasgow. Check out First Bus 9, 54, 56, 57 (89, 90 within walking distance) or Arriva 36, 38, 39.

By Train: Glasgow Central Station in the city centre is the main station. Take a bus or underground from there. Alternatively, alight at Dumbreck on the Paisley Canal line, and we are a fifteen minute walk through Bellahouston.

By Underground from Ibrox: From the station, turn right and follow the road for 500m. You will cross a busy road with Ibrox football stadium on your right! Turn left at the very end of the road and you’ll see the climbing centre 50m on the left hand side.

By Underground from Cessnock: From the station, turn right and follow the main road for approximately 500m until you see the church on the right.

By car from the West (Greenock): Taking the M8 follow signs for Glasgow. Leave the M8 at junction 24. Turn right from the motorway slip road following signs for Kilmarnock and Prestwick Airport. Through the traffic lights, left at the first round about to the next set of lights. Straight through at the lights and we are around 200m along this road on the left hand side. Look out for a big church!

By car from the South (Ayr): Taking the A77, then M77, follow signs for Glasgow. Take a West-bound turn at Junction 22 onto the M8. Leave the M8 at Junction 23. Turn right from the motorway slip road back over the motorway and turn right again on to the main road, Paisley Road West. We are 200m on the left.

By Car from the East (Edinburgh): On the M8, follow signs for Glasgow, then Greenock. Leave the M8 at junction 23. Turn right from the motorway slip road back over the motorway and go through a set of lights (NO RIGHT TURN !!!) straight on to the next roundabout and turn right. Go past Rangers Football Club to a set of lights and turn right. Continue to a “T” junction and turn left onto Paisley Road West. We are 100m on the left.

By Car from the North (A82): Taking the A82 follow signs for Glasgow. Leave the A82 at Anniesland cross, onto Crow Road following signs for the Clyde tunnel. Through the tunnel, the road continues up and over a flyover, resist the urge to join the motorway and take the exit for Cardonald. Continue into Cardonald and eventually turn left at the end of the road onto Paisley Road West. Carry on and we are around 5 mins on the left.

Parking is possible on the main road outside the centre, but use the side streets when it’s busy. If there’s football on, take the bus or underground!
