A laughter workshop is a unique way to address teamwork issues, build team morale and inspire people to do things a little differently. Laughter workshops can help alleviate performance sapping fear and anxiety by delivering simple, low-cost teamwork sessions that will change your workplace for the better (and boost productivity).
Laughter decreases the body’s levels of cortisol, the stress hormone. With 70% of illness being caused by stress, there is a demonstrable ROI. 100% of delegates at recent corporate events recorded feeling de-stressed, connected and energised at the end of the sessions.
Mentally, laughter unleashes inhibitions and breaks down barriers, encouraging better communication, team building, positive thinking and creativity. When laughter is shared we are instantly connected to one another and fear, a key foundation for conflict, is significantly reduced.
As a physical exercise, laughter gives a cardiovascular workout and helps tone muscles.
Workshops don’t use humour which is often questionable and culturally sensitive. Instead, teams are asked to pretend to laugh – an action that has the same physical effect as real laughter. The initial relaxation generated is then built on with a range proven, specialist techniques which include laughter workouts, conflict resolution techniques, positive psychology, team building, visualisation and relaxation. These can help to uncover conflict within teams and provide solutions.
Where we are briefed on particular issues, drama strategies and scripts can be devised that bring teams to question – and start to resolve – the appropriate teamwork issues. (Note: such directive workshops will need to be a half day session and a small charge will need to be added for the consultation and specialist script development.)
All workshops are monitored and evaluated with performance indicators.
People work best when they feel good about themselves. This is an instant mood changer and exercises can be used long after the event to increase motivation and creativity and bring the team closer together.
