With sterling silver backs and fish hooks. Dichroic glass was invented by NASA for use in its spacecrafts and satellites. Well known for its reflective and colour changing qualities, due to it having a quartz crystalline structure that has been coated with metallic oxides.
The glass is made in a vacuum chamber and is sprayed with the metallic oxides with up to 30 layers, only 30 microns in depth. This very sophisticated glass is then fused together with bullseye glass to create this vibrant jewellery.
Dichroic glass is extremely difficult to photograph and it is impossible to catch its natural beauty – the photograph can only give you some idea of the appearance and colour of the jewellery as the glass glimmers many different colours depending upon which angle the piece is viewed. We guarantee that dichroic glass is more beautiful than shown in the photos.
